Hotel Treats is turning 5!
Hotel Treats is celebrating its 5 year anniversary! For the first time ever, the entire team, normally working remotely across Europe, has gathered together in Mallorca for the special event.
As of 2022, we are the leading marketplace in selling experiences and gift vouchers from luxury hotels. We work with more than 250 luxury properties, including brands such as Nobu, St. Regis, Fairmont, and independent icons such as Marbella Club & El Palace Barcelona. We have achieved significant success in selling Day Passes, Brunch, Spa and other gift vouchers to local residents.
However, this success did not come overnight. Here is a short story of our origin.
The four co-founders - Liza & Adrian based in Mallorca, and Kasia & Bogdan based in the UK met online in 2017 (as it usually happens nowadays) and started brainstorming possible business ideas. After months of working out the technicalities, creating a website from scratch and literally knocking on the doors of more than 50 hotels we got our first YES! And it was an important 'yes' from an important client - a group of Marriott Hotels in Mallorca, who are still to this day some of our best-sellers. Back in the day selling gift vouchers to local residents was not a trendy thing yet and it cost us sweat and tears [luckily not blood! :)] to onboard more and more hotels to the marketplace.

Once up, running, and generating increasingly impressive sales for two seasons in 2018 & 2019, the COVID crisis came. It felt like a rug had been pulled from underneath our feet. Hotel Treats sales went down to nil in April 2020. Luckily, our survival instincts kicked in and within a couple of weeks we were fully focused on the opportunities Covid created. Surprisingly, there were plenty!
First of all, we landed a huge deal with Hard Rock Hotels, selling open-dated accommodation vouchers with extended validity to be used once the pandemic was under control. It turned out to be a massive success for both HRH & us, selling over $1.5M-worth of vouchers within the first four months.
Then, more and more hoteliers understood they need to focus on generating revenue from the internal market, reaching out to local residents, instead of focusing on tourists only. This is exactly our expertise and we were able to quickly present them with solutions that helped to move the needle at the darkest of times.
As a result, in 2020 Hotel Treats has generated 3 times more sales compared to 2019, totalling over 2 million euros.
Today, Hotel Treats is growing stronger and is opening a new market in Portugal. We have signed important deals with hotel chains such as Iberostar, H10 and Hospes Hotels. We are running our marketplace and building white-label online shops both for individual hotels and medium-size chains.
The 2022 season is looking extremely promising, with sales over 50% higher YoY. We can't wait to make the most of this trend, with a fabulous, strong and ambitious team we've built.
